The Participatory Ecological Land Use Management Network in Burundi, or “PELUM au Burundi,” is a network of non-profit organizations (ASBLs). It comprises organizations committed to advocating for agroecology in Burundi in general, and for participatory, regenerative management of natural resources in particular. Officially recognized under Ministerial Order No. 530/931 of June 25, 2024, PELUM in Burundi is the product of an initiative by the Agricultural Advocacy Group (GPA).

The PELUM network in Burundi operates on the basis of its strategy founded on its agroecology charter signed by 22 member organisations of the Agricultural Advocacy Group (GPA) on topics related to agroecology, participatory land management, advocacy and fundraising.
The PELUM AU BURUNDI network is also a member of the PELUM Association network, which is a regional network of 357 organisations working in the field of agroecology in 14 countries in East, Central and Southern Africa, including: Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Lesotho, Botswana, South Africa, Ethiopia, DRC and Burundi, working together on specific synergistic and strategic actions
Rural communities are required to participate in all programmes carried out by the network. It is through participation that communities become aware of their needs and contribute to decision-making processes. The network values the contribution of all member associations. .

- Be a legally registered association in accordance with the law on non-profit organisations No. 1/02 of 27 January 2017 (Approval and Acknowledgement)
- Be an organisation committed to promoting climate-resilient agroecology
- Have good organisational governance
- Be transparent and professional
- Be on good terms with partners in order to mobilise PELUM funds
- Have a functional office and staff
- Have at least one proven experience of interventions in communities with a focus on ecological management and self-promotion
- Be an association that actively promotes farmers’ knowledge and know-how
- Have held the organisation’s General Assembly with minutes authorising the application for membership of the PELUM network, as well as two people designated to be part of the PELUM network’s General Assembly
- Be willing to participate technically and materially in PELUM activities to achieve its objectives
